(WSB Radio) -- A 17-year-old Brookwood High School senior has been arrested and charged with setting a fire that destroyed a classroom trailer and caused significant to another trailer nearby. The incident happened Saturday, August 16th.

Matthew Cooper of Snellville turned himself in to authorities earlier today. Cooper is charged with one count of first degree arson and one count of second degree criminal damage to property.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 6:47 a.m., after a coach and several members of the cross country team saw smoke coming from behind the school building. The blaze engulfed the one trailer and was quickly spreading to the second trailer when firefighters arrived. Crews worked to extinguish the flames and protect the main-school building.

The school was not in session at the time and no injuries were reported.

There is no word on what motivated the teen to start the fire.
