Athens, Ga. --- Angela Puleo posted game-high tallies of 13 points, seven assists and three steals to lead the Georgia Lady Bulldogs (7-1) to a 72-46 victory over Tennessee Tech (1-6) before a crowd of 3,042 at Stegeman Coliseum on Wednesday night.
Puleo connected on three first-half three-pointers to help Georgia open up a 41-24 lead at intermission. For the game, she made 5-of-8 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.
In the first half, we shifted gears and went up a speed on offense," Georgia coach Andy Landers said. "We were playing faster, and that is certainly a good thing. This is the fastest we have played in four years. This is the best running we have had in four years. You know, we didnt run many offensive sets tonight. We can be more efficient. As we continue to push the envelope with the speed of the game, well make the adjustments, eliminate the turnovers, and become proficient at that speed of the game.
The Golden Eagles scored the first basket of the second half to pull within 15; however, the Lady Bulldogs responded with an 8-0 run and never allowed Tech closer than 20 points thereafter.
The lead topped out at 34 points (69-35) on a steal and layin by Jaleesa Rhoden with 5:32 remaining.
Christy Marshall added 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs, while Marshall and Porsha Phillips collected a game-high nine rebounds.
Angel Robinson ascended to the No. 9 position among Georgia's career blocked shots leaders. She swatted a season-high four shots and now has 103 in two-plus seasons with the Lady Bulldogs. Robinson is just one block shy of the current No. 8 mark of Wanda Holloway.
Georgia has now won five games in the last eight days by an average of 29.0 points per game. The Lady Bulldogs will return to action on Friday when they travel to Atlanta to face arch-rival Georgia Tech at 7:00 p.m.
