ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia senior diver Webb Worthington was named the Southeastern Conference Male Diver of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. It is the first time in his career that he has earned the weekly award.
Worthington helped the No. 10 Georgia swimming and diving team to a 139-90 victory over the Emory Eagles Friday at the Garbrielsen Natatorium with the top scores in both diving events.
Worthington earned a victory in the 3-meter springboard against Emory, posting a career-best score of 377.92, a mark that currently ranks as the third-highest in the conference. He then went on to post an exhibition score of 328.42 in the 1-meter, a score that would have been good enough for first place against the Eagles and a mark that currently ranks as the sixth-highest in the conference.
Worthington will look to repeat those efforts at the University of Georgia Invite, scheduled to be held Dec. 5-7 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
